White Crayon Resist Technique

Featuring rubber stamps & dies from Fun Stamper's Journey

Welcome! I made the background on today's card using a Crayon Resist Technique! Can you believe the background was white when I started? Read on to learn more!

WHITE CRAYON RESIST TECHNIQUE

Stamp images onto cardstock. Once the ink is thoroughly dried, color over the stamped images with a white crayon, being careful not to color outside the image. Then apply color to this piece from ink pads with daubers or sponges. AMAZING! The crayon resists the ink (hence, the name of the technique), allowing images to show through, while the cardstock absorbs the ink!

HOW TO MAKE THIS CARD

Ingredients:

Night Star Stamps - FSJ SS-0518 Host Exclusive with $300 or more party
Night Star Dies - FSJ DI-0364 Host Exclusive with $300 or more party

Whip Cream CS - 3 3/4 x 5"; 5 1/2 x 8 1/2" (fold in half for card base)
Beach Breeze CS - 4 x 5 1/4"
Mirror silver CS - 2 x 2"

Journey Silver Ink Pad
Beach Breeze Ink Pad
Beach Ball Ink Pad
Lavender Fusion Ink Pad
Whip Cream Ink Pad

Sparkle Silk
Journey Glaze
Sparkle Dust
Heat Gun
Daubers or sponges
Journey Foam Squares
Journey White Liner Tape
White Crayon
White & light blue organza ribbon
Baby wipes

Recipe:

On smaller whip cream CS, stamp medium & small star images with Journey Silver Ink. Heat set with heat gun, as this is PIGMENT ink. Let CS cool for a few minutes, then color over with white crayon, being careful not to color outside the image.

Apply colored inks with daubers or sponges, rubbing the ink in with a swirling motion - Beach Breeze, then Beach Ball, then a touch of Lavender Fusion. Now apply the Whip Cream ink, again using a gentle swirling motion. With baby wipe, gently wipe off any whip cream ink that may have gotten on images. Retouch with the first three colors if needed to achieve desired effect.  Finally, you'll need to heat set again, as the Whip Cream ink is also PIGMENT.

Repeat the process around all 4 edges of the card front (about 1/2 inch from edges) and be sure to briefly heat set this as well.

And its back to the smaller piece again! Flick Sparkle Silk onto this piece as desired. Next, randomly apply small dots of Journey Glaze, then cover with Sparkle Dust. Set aside for a few minutes to allow glaze to dry. While this is drying, tie a bow with the two pieces of organza ribbon together and trim the tails. Also, cut a star from the Mirror Silver CS with the smallest star die.

Once dry (in just a few minutes), attached your stamped & colored piece in the center of the Beach Breeze CS with White Liner Tape. Then attach this to the card front. Stamp the sentiment "Joyful Christmas Wishes" with Beach Ball ink, as shown in photo. Heat set the sentiment briefly, as this ink my smudge if it goes over the white crayon (not porous)!

Now attach the bow to the card with white liner tape, then attach the silver star with foam squares. Finish the inside as desired!

NOTES: I strongly recommend using FSJ's True Color Fusion Inks! These ink pads are a fusion of dye & pigment inks and blend beautifully! Contact me on my website for more information or to order! http://www.funstampersjourney.com/lauraneumann

BUTTERFLY CARD

Hello and welcome to My Craftalicious Journey! Today's share is a quickie butterfly card using Fun Stamper's Journey stamp set called "Beautiful Wings" (SS-0353) and "Just Because" (BD-0141).

Other ingredients needed are:

Whip Cream CS (5 1/2" x 8 1/2", folded in half; 3 3/3" x 5"; 2 1/4" x 1 1/4"; large scraps)
Grape Fusion CS (5 1/4" x 4")
Grape Fusion Ink Pad
Fresh Forest Ink Pad (stamped off once)
White liner tape
Sponge
Paper snips for fussy cutting

Ink bold butterfly stamp with Fresh Forest ink. Stamp off once on scrap paper, then stamp on large whip cream scraps twice. Next, ink a detail stamp with Grape Fusion ink and stamp over bold butterfly image. Repeat this step with the other detail butterfly stamp, again using the Grape Fusion Ink. Cut out both butterflies with scissors.

On 3 3/4"x 5" Whip Cream CS, stamp the flower from "Just Because" randomly with Grape Fusion ink. Then stamp the leaf with Fresh Forest ink (after stamping off once on scrap paper to lighten the color). Sponge all 4 edges of this piece with Grape Fusion ink. Attach this piece to Grape Fusion CS, then attach to card base.

On 2 1/4" x 1 1/4" Whip Cream CS, stamp the sentiment "Be your own kind of Beautiful" with Grape Fusion Ink. Attach this to the card front. Finally, add both butterflies as shown!

Hope you've enjoyed this Craftalicious Recipe today! I will try to add more designs and recipes 2 - 3 times a week over the month of October, so check back frequently! Until the next time, Happy Crafting! Smiles, Laura
