SCENIC SUNSET BIRTHDAY CARD

Hello stamping friends! Today's share is a quick and easy birthday card, using Fun Stamper's Journey stamps, inks & cardstock! I used SS-0487 Fresh Forest Stamp Set & SS-0072 Sentimental Prints Stamp Set, along with 3 colors of cardstock, Summer Days, Black Licorice & Whip Cream. I also used our Fusion Ink sponges with our Fusion Ink Pads - Black Licorice, Summer Days, Tangerine Fusion, Watermelon Fusion, Beach Breeze and Green Olive.

I used a simple sponging technique with the above inks to create the sunset sky & ground, then stamped the trees onto this with Black Licorice Ink. The entire card took me less than 15 minutes to create after I gathered supplies!

I am just loving our Fun Stamper's Journey cardstock & Fusion Inks! They are color coordinated, which makes matching the colors easy! Our cardstock is heavyweight 80#, the best for cardmaking and papercrafting! And our Fusion Inks are AMAZING - because they are a fusion between dye & pigment inks, they blend superbly. Did you know you can combine 2 colors to create a 3rd color!!! Incredible!

Due to limited time this month, I'll be posting pictures of my creations with basic information about them. BUT CHECK BACK FREQUENTLY!! AS TIME PERMITS, I WILL COMPLETE THE POST BY ADDING THE INGREDIENTS & RECIPES FOR EACH CARD WITHIN A WEEK OF POSTING THE ORIGINAL!!

And here's the Recipe!

INGREDIENTS:

Fresh Forest Stamp Set
Sentimental Prints Stamp Set
Summer Days Cardstock (A2 card; 1/2" x 2 1/4")
Black Licorice Cardstock (4" x 5 1/4")
Whip Cream Cardstock (3 3/4" x 5")
Scrap Cardstock, about 4" x 4"
Summer Days Ink Pad
Tangerine Fusion Ink Pad
Watermelon Fusion Ink Pad
Beach Breeze Ink Pad
Green Olive Ink Pad
Black Licorice Ink Pad
FSJ Sponges (cut into 6 pieces)
Journey Circle Die 3"
Foam Squares
White Liner Tape
2 way glue (I used Zig 2 way glue)

DIRECTIONS:

Cut circle into center of scrap cardstock with 3" Circle Die. Apply Zig glue around the edge of the circle and let dry for 2-3 minutes - the glue will become tacky, like a post-it note. Place this circle stencil a little off center on whip cream cardstock, as seen in photo. The glue will help hold it in place.

You will need a separate sponge for each color here, to avoid contaminating your ink pads with other colors. Pick up Summer Days ink with sponge & rub lightly onto cardstock with a circular motion inside the circle. Next, dab Tangerine Fusion ink very lightly into the circle. Repeat with Tangerine Fusion ink. Finally, lightly rub more Summer days ink in with a circular motion, until you achieve desired look. Remove the circle stencil - your sun is done!

To create the ground, lightly apply Green Olive ink to about the bottom third of this piece. To finish the sky, start with Summer Days ink - dab lightly around the sun to create a glow. Repeat with Tangerine Fusion, then Watermelon Fusion, working your way out from the sun. Finally, lightly dab in the Beach Breeze ink to complete the sky! Now stamp your trees from Fresh Forest Stamp Set with Black Licorice ink, as seen in photo. With White Liner Tape, attach this piece to black CS, then to the card front.

Stamp the "Happy Birthday" sentiment from Sentimental Prints with Black Licorice ink onto the small yellow piece of CS. Attach to your card with foam squares. Finish off the inside with the stamps/phrases of your choice and your card is complete!

TIP: I like to label my sponges to help avoid contaminating my ink pads with the wrong color! To do this, take a piece of white scrap CS, about 1"x 1 1/2" & fold it in half, then write the color name on it. Staple onto your sponge, as seen in the photo below!

Thanks for stopping in to look today! As always, I hope I have helped to inspire your creativity! Happy Stamping! Smiles, Laura
